Julia Vidakovic, Business Advisor

Julia Vidakovic has been self-employed and operating a small business or working with businesses ever since she graduated from the University of Manchester in 1983 with an Degree in Design.

Over the years she worked as a freelance pattern maker and designer, creating ranges for companies who specialized in everything from sleepwear to lingerie, ladies wear to sports wear, wetsuits to animal wear. She has even designed and drafted for horses! A successful designer, her designs have appeared in many mainstream European fashion magazines (Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle) as part of editorial features as well as in local Vancouver publications.

Always interested in learning, she began studying law at Leeds Metropolitan University in her spare time (1994) and now holds legal qualifications. Immediately prior to leaving Britain, she worked for two years as an HRD consultant, helping local companies integrate people into their business plans - something she loved doing. She arrived in Vancouver in 1997 and took a short break to decide which direction to take.

Needing to express her creativity, she chose to work in the highly competitive Vancouver bridal industry, building her own couture business until a car accident in early 2003 forced her to re-group and re-focus. Bright Spark Consulting Inc. was created in September 2004 and helps businesses plan and create strategic promotional campaigns.

She is an active member of Mensa, received a Leo Award in 2005 for her film costume work and is a published writer. She currently writes for a local comedy group and her novel in progress has already received agent interest.
